Pimoroni, makers of the excellent Pibow case, have just started to sell a case/mount for the Raspberry Pi camera module. It’s made out of acrylic and utilises the mounting holes on the camera to sandwich it between two layers. Of particular interest is the addition of a mount hole for camera tripods. For £3 plus postage, it really is a great little mount.

Also available is a new top layer for the Pibow that allows the cable to pass through.

Looks nice, and not too expensive. I believe those 4 holes on the Camera PCB for dowel pins to locate the part on the manufacturing tooling, not “mounting holes” per se. You will note there are some components on the back side (check C1 for example) that are so close to the edge of the holes that the screw head or nut will squeeze the component when it is tightened. Ceramic caps are fragile, so this is not good for reliability.
Really? Hmmm… So it’s possible that any case or enclosure that uses them could end up damaging the camera board itself? Yikes!
