Tom Murray, who launched the LEGO-compatible SmartiPi case in October 2014, has just launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for a case for the official touch screen for the Raspberry Pi. The new case, which will be injection moulded, includes an adjustable stand and looks to be a very well put-together design. So, if you’ve got a touch screen, take a look at the Kickstarter. The case starts at $20 USD (shipping is free in the USA and a very competitive $7 for the UK) and includes a case and mount for the official Pi camera.
I already own one of the official touch screens for the Raspberry Pi so I am particulary interested in the development of this very smart looking case. I am actually looking at buying a second 7″ screen at the moment because the first is tied to a project, I have four Pi’s in use here.
I was initially put off by the Lego look, but I have been told
that the Lego bit can be disconnected.
Where can one buy that Y cable ??
Don’t know about the Y cable. I *think* if you search for it, you’ll probably find it’s a pretty standard thing. The other thing to do, if you’re not using this case in particular is to go for something like this which links the Pi to the screen’s USB out socket http://thepihut.com/products/short-microusb-power-cable-for-official-raspberry-pi-display
That Y cable was easy to find. I have a red face not looking in Amazon before I wrote that .
Here it is:

I wonder if that case will be trumped by the Pimoroni, I would a case here in the EU – I have found American postage to be expensive.
