An alternative to the standard Motorola Lapdock modification is this laptop-in-a-case! Great Instructable. Requires the Raspy Juice expansion board, though.

This was for sale on eBay recently. I bidded on it, but didn’t win.
Someone at the last MK Jam built something similar (but more lightweight) that was very sweet indeed. I’m hoping he’ll bring it again this coming Sunday to the next Jam so we can all steal his ideas 🙂 I seem to remember that the screen and interface board part cost him all of £20-30 which is outstanding for an HD screen.
I’m looking for a small screen for my Pi- anyone got any ideas?
It all depends on how portable you want it to be.
There are a number of ways to go.
One of the most popular is to get a 7″ car reversing camera screen off eBay. You connect it up using the composite video port. I’ve got one of these. The main problem is the resolution. They tend to be fairly muddy.
Another route is to get one from http://www.lilliputuk.com/. They offer 7″/5″ HDMI field screens. The main issue with them is the cost – upwards of £160.
There’s also the LapPi way which is to get some kind of screen and an interface board, kind of a DIY way. It’s probably the most cost-effective but you a) have to make sure it’s going to work before you buy and b) have to do some wiring yourself to make it work.
