Alex has been trying out an Innoo Tech HDMI to VGA adapter box with his Raspberry Pi. It also breaks out the HDMI audio to a 3.5mm jack which gives better results than using the Pi’s existing (underpowered) 3.5mm audio out.

Cassandra 1,000,000 inserts/sec on #RaspberryPi

Big Data database engine Cassandra has been benchmarked at 1 million inserts per second on the Raspberry Pi. This can be seen in the video below. Of course, this isn’t a full-fledged benchmark as only one insert is being done at a time, but the concept is sound.

Shea Silverman purchased a Mausberry Circuits Raspberry Pi power switch and has reviewed it on his blog. This neat little board has a switch which tells the Pi to shutdown properly, waits for that to happen and then cuts power. At $22 it’s not cheap, but it is a very nice little switch. Read about it here
