Here’s a promising idea. A C++ compiler for Windows to compile to the Pi. Looks like it’s in it’s infancy at the moment, but well worth keeping an eye on.

Yet another couple of add-on boards, but these look very interesting.
MiniPiio « Zuzebox’s Blog Buy from Tindie
The L293D board:
This is a DC Motor controller using the venerable L293D from ST (and others). The L293D is dual H-Bridge driver capable of driving 36V DC and 600mA per H-Bridge.
The MiniPiio Relay2 board:
A simple two relay DPCO board. Either of the relays can be selected from 8 off the GPIO pins from the Raspberry Pi expansion header.
There’s also an RS232 board and at least another one, but the site is done as a blog so it’s a little difficult to just see a list, let alone spot where to buy from.
Will edit this post later if I can find more info!
Just a quick post! Found a new RSS source at Quick2Wire. If you go to the page below:
and then add ‘/feed’ to the end of it (‘…../category/raspberry-pi/feed) this will give you the RSS.
Told you it was a quick post!
Great tutorial from Cambridge University about connecting a switch to an LED. Great beginners stuff!
Here’s an interesting one. This is an I/O expansion board for the Pi that comes with a case specially designed to be used with the card attached to the Pi.
From the manufacturer:
The I/O card adds the following functionality to your Raspberry Pi computer:
The card and case come in at an intimidating £53 on eBay or 45 euros (ish) on their site.
Summing up
It’s a pity this is so expensive because it’s not altogether clear to the hobbyist what you can do with it. I’d love to get my hands on one and put it through it’s paces. Some demo programs are supplied, which is a great idea, but there’s not a great indication of exactly what it does for £50. I think hobbyists would lap it up if it does a decent amount of things!
That’s right, folks. It’s the Fifty Shades of Pi. Honestly…
