DIY Raspberry Pi GPIO LEDs and switches board
A blogger at PiecesOfPi.co.uk decided that he (or, indeed, she) wanted to build a GPIO board for themselves. So, they’ve taken a piece of stripboard, some LEDs and a few switches and done just that. He’s posted all the diagrams so you can replicate the board, although he hasn’t included much in the way of help with the software. Should be fairly easy to knock something up with Python or ScratchGPIO, though. Read all about it here.
Create a time lapse in Python with the Raspberry Pi
Normally if you want to do a timelapse with the Pi camera, you just use the raspistill command with the -tl parameter. However, Richard (aka the Average Man) wanted to do it programmatically so he could update an LCD screen during the process. If you want to do this yourself, check out his tutorial here.
Interview with BulletPi creator Andrew Robinson
Linux User & Developer have published their interview online with Andrew Robinson, who created a bullet-time rig by chaining together 48 Raspberry Pis and camera modules. Read it here.
Google Glass-alike with a Raspberry Pi
Nur has taken a Raspberry Pi, some sunglasses frames, a few LCD components and a mobile hotspot and created a Google Glass clone. There’s not much detail of the project over at Make but it’s interesting to note someone’s done this. Read the Make article here.
Interview with Raspberry Pi (Pi-Top) laptop creators
Russell Barnes has done a great interview with the creators of the Pi Top, the Raspberry Pi laptop that you put together yourself. He interviews Ryan Dunwoody and Jesse Lozano and goes into the process behind developing and marketing the product, including the great coverage they received before the IndieGoGo campaign launch. They chat about the educational aims of the Pi-Top and also about the HATs that are being launched with the laptop itself. Listen to the podcast here.
