Lots of projects news this morning!
Steven Hickson has been working with a Raspberry Pi and an Arduino to create a voice-controlled talking robot bartender. He himself admits that it’s a bit slow, but it is very polite! The voice command is handled by his own voice command system.
Here’s a new monitoring and managing package that shows promise. It’s called Ground Control. Read more here.
For those of you who are interested in using an Arduino, whether in conjunction with the Pi or not, here’s a guide to the most common boards.
Hackerspace group Apollo NG are developing a new board for the Raspberry Pi which houses a Geiger counter.
They’re in development at the moment and you can indicate a preference for how you might like to get hold of the board (with/without components, pre-assembled etc). Prices are very reasonable (starting at $5 for the bare board).

The always-reliable Adafruit have published a method for turning your Pi into a wireless access point. Please note, you will need a wifi dongle that supports the correct mode for this to work. Their guide is available here
Matt, at Raspberry Pi Spy, has written a great little guide to using omxplayer to play videos from the command line. As he points out, this is a great way of playing videos that you’ve recorded from the camera module. Read the guide
