Craig Argh has posted a great tutorial on using a capacitive touch sensor breakout board, 5 potatoes and the Pi. Sounds insane, but it’s a great way to learn about capacitance and how to use strange objects to control your Pi. Full instructions (but unfortunately no suggestions on variety of potato to use!) are available over at the ArghBox blog.
Snowboarding with a #RaspberryPi GPS helmet camera
Martin O’Hanlon loves to snowboard and he’s figured out a way to record his travels using a helmet camera powered by a Raspberry Pi. Here he is in action:

Android Apps for #RaspberryPi – RasPi.TV picks the best ones
Alex has researched a ton of Android apps and written a great article on the best ones over at RasPi.TV.
Horse racing game with the #RaspberryPi and the BerryClip
Jim Flewker has taken a BerryClip and written a horse-racing game for it. This board is great for a beginner (I’ve got one myself and it was the first thing I soldered successfully) and has 6 LEDs, a buzzer and a switch.
Are teachers ready for the coding revolution? Can the #RaspberryPi help?
Rory Cellan-Jones, the BBC’s technology correspondent, has written a great article about his time at BETT, the annual educational technology fair in London this week. He’s interviewed several people, including education secretary Michael Gove (who is either the saviour of our technological future or the devil incarnate, depending on which teacher you ask), Carrie Anne Philbin (who has just joined Raspberry Pi) and primary school head teacher Jonathan Furness (who has been attending our Cambridge Raspberry Jams). There’s now a raging discussion going on in the comments section.
Well worth a read if you want to learn about the government’s plans for computing in schools.
What is a #RaspberryPi? – fantastic animated video from Saladhouse
Manchester-based animation studio Saladhouse have created this delightful little video in which they explain what a Raspberry Pi is and what it can do. They’ve made the great decision to get Amy Mather to narrate it and I think it sums up brilliantly what the Pi is all about.
